Subject: Some Quick Major Ideas About The Tarot Author: medeis [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 15:48:33 06/12/01 Tue In reply to: storm 's message, "i read about it and it said...." on 11:23:02 06/12/01 Tue glad you told me that about paragraphs. how about a couple of quick ideas in mostly outline format... tarot = 78 cards 4 suits of 14 cards each 22 major arcana cards (the word arcana means "secrets") (!) the major arcana is like a story that begins with The Fool. in a way The Fool is like a voyager thru the major arcana and he (or the idea of him) goes thru transformations by means of tests and revelations. so each card of the major arcana is an archetype (forgive that word but it is most apt) for these tests and revelations. this means that each card stands for the big picture, not every day stuff. every day stuff is represented in the minor arcana (those 4 suits).
