Stikitupuras (you may as well spell it correctly: stick it up your ass)
my what a flamboyant entrance! why do i doubt you will ever post again having led with the flaming torch you did bear?
i find it interesting that none of the americans who are regular posters on this board, including myself, took umbrage to boyfriend's remark, yet you, a mysterious lurker, took it upon yourself to comment. interesting. i did notice the comment, en passant, however, the message was not addressed to me. but now that you have brought the subject up, i shall give you my opinion.
boyfriend stated, "Well...what ever they are, they aint american! Thank god!"
what does he really mean by this? is he putting down americans in general? i don't think so, as that is not what he said. he was referring to a band. if boyfriend prefers that his bands be english, welsh or irish, then that is his personal choice and does not necessarily reflect on how he feels about americans. you have extrapolated incorrectly and in an illogical manner. you have flamed someone in an opening post without having considered the matter thoroughly i think.
you have some interesting comments to make about why the british lost the war. the traditional tactics of the british army were actually very effective. the problems they faced eventually included coming up against militiamen who used guerrilla warfare strategy having a better command of the terrain, the continental army trained by friedrich von steuben which turned the tide in the northern battles, and the advent of the french army for the seige of yorktown.
so, in fact, the americans were allied with others who helped them along. it is doubtful if we would have won the war alone. review your history. reconsider your approach to boyfriend. then come back and perhaps we can discuss the matter reasonably. like adults.
