okay! here it is! Delena's review for B&W!
i love it! :0)
the graphics are breathtaking. lots of eye candy to keep you enraptured for hours on end. the detail on all scales is superior to anything else i've played yet, and that's saying something!
you can pan in and out on the scenery (your land is an island) from a speck on a map to seeing every detail of a villager's face. you get excellent graphics on every scale, and the sounds are amazing. you can hear villagers praying to you if you're close enough, and if you're far away, all you hear is the wind and water. people/animals scream if you throw them (yes, you can throw them!), and trees sway if you touch them.
the tutorial is excellent. two thumbs up. you have a "conscience" consisting of a kindly old man on one shoulder (good) and a little devil on the other (obviously evil).
you have 'quests' indicated by silver scrolls. a little cinema plays and a villager tells you what they need from you. if you're good, you do it and get rewards. if you're evil, you don't help and you take what you want. that simple.
your creature is like a baby, and is impulsive and curious. you can reward him and reprimand him to teach him (or her). you have a choice of a cow, an ape, or a tiger to start off with. each has their own attributes to make them desirable.
the game is interactive and absorbing right off the bat. it's easy to play if you're the newest of newbies, or old hat (of which i am not, yet!). the 3D aspect is incredible, but then again, this is dependant on what kind of 3D accelerator you have. we happen to have the #1 system of last year.
there is just so much you can do with this game. it's extremely open-ended, so you can do what you please with your godly powers. you can concentrate on your villagers, spreading your influence and making more people have faith in you (the amount of faith they have in you directly affects the amount of prayer power you have to perform miracles), to developing your creature (which i'm doing), to following the storyline. it's very versatile!
so far, i give it two thumbs up! it's awesome!
