First of all, I don't appreciate anyone calling me or my husband "white trash". You don't know us or anything about us. We have been breeding dogs for years, and my husband has been showing dogs since he was 8 years old. I think we may have a few years experience on some of you people.
Secondly, this was an incident that DID NOT happen at the show site, and so AKC cannot ban us from showing our dogs. If this happens, we will absolutely file an appeal.
Third, if you want to tell a story, write a book. If you want to give an account of what happened, tell the truth. If you don't know the details, keep quiet!! My children are not as young as you might think. Our male was in his kennel, and we ran 3 buildings down to pick up McD's for the kids for dinner. My son, (who by the way is NOT 10 years old as the handler misinformed the police) let the dogs out together to play, against my rules. There was NO blood all over the place as people have exaggerated, animal control was NOT called, and all of this can be confirmed in the police report. We also spoke with the hotel manager and explained what happened, and they had no problem with it and it will not affect anyone in the future. The only evidence that the scuffle even took place was a very light superficial scratch on my pups face from the other dog's claw.
Now let's discuss the behavior of the handler who came to the room. This particular handler, if truly experienced with dogs, would not have been beating on the dogs with a leather leash and a shoe. This was very upsetting to the children watching. The dogs are not as bad as you would think, and can be separated simply by grabbing their collar and telling them no. But I guess that would never occur to a professional dog handler!! Had any harm come to the dogs as a result of this abuse from this particular handler, we would have filed charges and suit against them. I am in no way dumb white trash, and don't appreciate the remarks. Now I have printed up this post and will procede to look into a harrassment suit. Thanks so much!!
