Subject: want to adopt male neapolitan mastiff

Hi,
I have been in contact with Barron Van Houten for about a year. Looking for an adult, pet quality companion for my Tawny Bitch. She is AKC registered and has been bred, but I just want a companion for her now.

She is totally attached to our 11 year old Rottie Male. He is ill and we are going to have to put him down soon, but Bella will go into mourning and I am afraid for her. She is very sensitive and loving. She adores Tod (Rottie) and has followed him around for the last 6 years. Where you find one, you find the other.

If you should hear of a Mastino Male that needs adoption, PLEASE let me know. I feel cruel keeping Tod on meds and extending his life beyond when I should. He’s on enough meds to dull his pain, but we can’t do this forever. I love him too much to see him suffer and I love Bella too much to see her mourn. Also, I know that there are so many adults that need experienced Mastino homes and those homes are hard to find.

When our Cairn terrier died, Bella wouldn’t touch food for about 10 days. I don’t know what will happen when Tod goes.

We are moving to Franklin, NC on to a huge piece of fenced property in either May or June, depending upon when the house is finished.. We currently have a home with pond on 1 ½ acres.

I have references as to how I treat my “family”. I also run a sanctuary for abandoned, unwanted and abused parrots. We currently have 25 that we support.

We also have 3 rescue cats. 18, 9 and 4. They are totally unfazed by large dogs and Bella thinks that the birds are her personal property and guards them.

Thank you,

Gail Martin
