Subject: looking for a mastiff pup, adoption or other....

Hello, we are looking for a Mastiff or mastiff mix to replace our beloved Thaddeus, whom we recently lost in a car accident. We enjoy the very large breeds and haven’t had a dog that wasn’t considered a small horse in quite some time. All the reading I have done on Mastiffs tell me they are ideal for a family, as we have a 5 yr old and 8 yr old, and consider a dog as a family member rather than a pet.

We are located in southeast Nebraska. Is it possible to get a Mastiff pup, or adopt one for $200 or less? I realize I'm probably dreaming trying to find one at that price, but I've searched all the shelters in the neighboring area, and haven't found anything, except for a Mastiff/akita mix. Can anyone tell me what the temperament of that would be like? They say they are more mastiff than akita, which would be fine, but I don't want to run into problems later on.
