Her surroundings are beautiful. Snow blankets the slim ash-colored trees, making them sparkle brilliantly in the fresh morning. Her shallow tracks imprinted in the blindingly white snow are a symbol of what was left behind. Misty begins to feel a warm reassurance. She would have smiled, if wolves could. Tongue lolling out to one side, her breath makes a warm fog in the chill dawn. She can hear the trill of many songbirds, and a cardinal flits across her path.
