Would you believe another chunk of that ice-shelf just broke off? Would you believe the ice is actually thickening, however? (actually, you don't have to take my word for it, because the info is out there)

This isn't at all far-fetched. Thicker ice = more mass pushing ice downhill = more calving where ice meets the sea. The fact that the last time this happened at Antarctica there were not "Republicans" driving "Demon SUV" to blame (or an "unbiased©," "Mainstream®" Media to preach the dogma of "Global Warming©"), doesn't change the mechanism.
