The trick is to get a point that is sharp enough, yet not so thin and brittle as to break when the necessary pressure is applied. I believe such a point can be achieved as would permit you to pierce soft tissue, but clothing would confound the stabbery. An eye or perhaps the throat would be a good shot. Between the ribs might be doable if they were for some reason topless around you in your candy cane wielding frenzy.

You could always get a 24 pack of candy canes and practice with a side of beef.
