Subject: Re: Ananda and NTLA article
In reply to: Yogananda Devotee - 29 Aug 2001 's message, "Re: Ananda and NTLA article" on 10:50

I read his rebuttal closely. Yes, I understand that Kriyananda claimed
that he was trying to dissuade the author. However, in his rebuttal
Kriyananda also wrote,

Ron Russell himself told me over the
telephone, "It isn?t that I believe any
of these things. They?re just what people
have told me. How can I, as a responsible
journalist, ignore a good story when it
is given to me?" I replied, "I see your
point. Given your premise, you?ll naturally
do what you feel you have to do."
(After all, I couldn?t stop him.)

It doesn't sound to me at all like Kriyanada felt
that he had convinced the author not to publish
the article. Indeed, from the above quote it sounds
like Kriyananda was (at the time of his discussion with
the author) more or less resigned to the fact the the
author would publish these things about Yogananda. Does
it not? Therefore I don't think the explanation you gave
holds much water.

I don't really recall this point being discussed in detail
but it is possible that I missed the discussion on this
board or am not aware of the other boards where this
discussion had taken place. If those discussions
addressed the points I made above then I would appreciate
it if you could direct me to them. Thanks.
