No Brian, it is not a painful subject for me. What does irritate me though, is how people come to this board quoting what appears at different internet sites as if something must be true just because it is written on the internet. One of the reasons this board is here is so that we can get to the truth based on what evidence is available, not just based on unfounded allegations and speculation.

The fact that something appears on the internet means nothing. Anyone can start a website and write whatever they like anonymously. Where there is no reasonable collaborating evidence we have to reject internet allegations.

The yogananda-dif website which you quote from is interesting. Some of the things said there can be verified, e.g. the allegations of altering Yogananda's signature, photographs etc. These are good points and worthy of discussion. Most of these things have been discussed here.

In the case of the allegations concerning the supposed mistreatment of Durga Mata however, all we have is one anonymous persons unverified claims. The article there contains many contradictions e.g. it states that Durga Mata was isolated by SRF and that it was difficulty to obtain her private telephone number from SRF. Would you provide someone you wanted to isolate with their own telephone line? The article also seems to suggest that Durga Mata was available to the public, but unreachable by monastics living with her. How could this be achieved? There are several other contradictions in the article.

Based on this article you made a post with the subject line "Is Daya Mata a Usurper?" which seems to suggest that Durga Mata was the rightful president and had been hushed up by the "Daya Dynasty". This is what Durga Mata herself wrote about the issue.

After we left Forest Lawn, Daya had an appointment to keep. Mataji, Tara and
others came along. They did not want me to go directly to Mt. Washington but go
with them on a little drive. Now I know why. Tara is so seldom with us, they thought
we had better take this opportunity to ask me what they wanted her to approach me with while Daya was at her appointment. Tara took me aside and said, "Now that
Rajasi is gone, we will have to appoint another president. I spoke to Daya and she felt we should ask you first because you are the eldest sister. What do you say?" I very positively answered, "I wouldn't burden SRF with another unhealthy president for
Master has told me my life too is in danger s much s his and Rajasi's were, and it would be bad for SRF. I honestly believe that Daya would make a far better president than I." I only repeated to Tara what I had told Mrinalini a short time before
Rajasi's passing, and later to Eugene Lynn and to Daya. l believed it then, I more strongly than ever still believe that my choice of serving God, Master, and SRF is better for me. I am sincerely thankful that l reneged in Daya's favor.

So what shall we believe, Durga Mata's own words, or the claims of an unnamed person writing on the internet on who knows what authority?

There is just not enough evidence in support of the claims made concerning Durga Mata's alleged mistreatment. The person who wrote the article at Yogananda-dif may be mistaken or lying. It may be that SRF tried to shield her because of her poor health and this was misinterpreted. It may be that the claims are true, but if so there should be stronger evidence than we have seen so far.
