Subject: Re: NO DISCUSSION OF KRIYA TECHNIQUES
In reply to: Anonymous-16Aug01 's message, "Re: NO DISCUSSION OF KRIYA TECHNIQUES" on 09:39

Yes, and underneath that it says "No discussion of the sacred and secret techniques of Kriya Yoga." It couldn't be much clearer.

All of us pledged to keep these things secret. There are few things more offensive to most kriyabans than unauthorised people giving away these secrets openly. I believe that most people on this board do not want these things discussed openly. It is hard as a board moderator to decide where to draw the line, so the rule is simply that these techniques are not discussed here.

Since the subject has been brought up I will point out that the suggestion that Yogananda altered the method of breathing in kriya, and that Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar and others taught breathing through the nose only is not true. I have had correspondence with kriyabans of several different lineages who learned the same breathing methods as taught by Yogananda.

If you want to check this you could look at the works of Swami Satyeswarananda, in particular his "Kriya - Finding the True Path", in which he devotes a chapter to the supposed modifications made by Yogananda. He does not suggest that the method of breathing was one of Yogananda's changes, which he surely would have if he had not learned in the same manner.
