In reply to: Yogananda Devotee - 29 Aug 2001 's message, "Re: Ananda and NTLA article" on 10:55

The author in no way indicated to Kriyananda or anyone at Ananda that he was actually going to go ahead and publish an article against Yogananda."

According to Kriyananda the author said, "It isn?t that I believe any of these things. They?re just what people have told me. How can I, as a responsible
journalist, ignore a good story when it is given to me?" That sounds like a pretty good indication doesn't it? To this Kriyananda replied, ""I see your
point. Given your premise, you?ll naturally do what you feel you have to do." How can you possibly say that the author "no way indicated" that the article
would be published. I don't think you are being honest with yourself here. Perhaps Kriyananda was not certain of the content but certainly there was a very
strong indication of what the content of that article would be. Can you honestly deny this?

"It's also very clear to anyone who knows Kriyananda and Ananda that they have absolutely nothing to gain from their Guru being made to look bad."

I don't know Kriyananda personally and have in the past had a neutral attitude toward him. However, my first reaction is to believe that neither
Kriyananda or anyone at Ananda would want these kinds of things to be said about Yogananda. On the otherhand however, none of the explanations from Ananda
regarding the inclusion of the ad are consistent with the facts.

"And it's also clear that SRF and its members have much to gain from making Kriyananda and Ananda look like they were behind this article- it follows a long pattern."

I never claimed or even alluded to the possibility that Ananda was behind this article. What I am claiming is that the statements from Ananda that Kriyananda
and Ananda were unaware of the nature of the article and that Ananda and Kriyananda didn't think the article would be published are not consistent with the facts
that I have seen. I admit the possibility that you might have more facts that might preclude this possibility and therefore I am asking you to share them.
