"Whatever the case, it works. As does the Kriya he teaches."

So what? All yoga techniques "work". Earlier I was hungry so I practiced a little Food Yoga and it worked. I was no longer hungry.

I've practiced Yogananda's Hong Sau (I'm not giving away the technique here, Ketch) and I've practiced the Soham many others teach and the results, at least preliminarily, are the same: calm mind, breath, etc. I was wondering what the differences in long term effects are, since both techniques are obviously the opposite of each other.

I read elsewhere that the two techniques concentrate the energies of the body in two opposite places. Hong Sau concentrates them in the head (at ajna chakra), and So Ham goes down to the muladhara chakra and awakens Kundalini and cycles her around the other chakras up to the head. I shan't say more, in respect for Ketchji Maharaj's rule of not discussing specifics.
