As far as the changing of the title Param(a)hansa is concerned I have said before that in my (inexpert) opinion SRF should not have changed the spelling of the title or the signature. They could have simply said "Our guru spelt it like this and that's all there is to it." There are plenty of other things that I personally disagree with, such as the altering of photographs, and the virtual elimination of some people from SRF's history.

Whether or not changes to Yogananda's writings were made without his approval is another matter. The fact is that Yogananda did appoint some of his disciples to edit his works, especially Tara Mata. This is even admitted in Mr Walters autobiography. These disciples were authorised to edit his writings even if the specific changes, additions etc. were not approved personally by Yogananda in every detail. Obviously some things, such as the addition of footnotes relating to events after Yogananda's passing could not have been personally approved by him. This does not mean that his disciples were not authorised to make such changes.

My post above was in relation to changes in one specific passage. I do not know when these changes came about or who made them, and I suspect that no-one else here does either. The correct thing to do then, is to admit that we don't know, not to assume that the changes must have been made without Yogananda's approval. What we do know is that Yogananda did edit and change his writings. In fact Mr Walters in his autobiography claims to have been present when Yogananda went through some of his writings paragraph by paragraph deeply considering what changes he could make.

As for the supposed "shakiness of SRF's reputation" which you refer to, I suggest that the reputation and integrity of SRF's leaders is rather better than that of someone else I could mention.
