"The influence of Kali Yuga will be left behind as the years go by. But during this period of transition there is great conflict between the tenacious Kali Yuga mindset and the more enlightened spiritual understanding struggling to be born. This is why our times are so turbulent. Even though it is true that we have entered a higher age, most people--in action, in understanding, in attitudes--are still very much in the Kali Yuga. The focus of their concentration is outward, on body satisfaction, ego satisfaction."

"Concentrate on God, not on the outer show. Think of it: How many lives are behind us, and in those lives how many experiences have we had? Countless! Each of us has spent many lives as men, many as women. We have belonged to all different races and nationalities. We have been rich and poor, famous and forgotten. We have lived in times of peace and in times of war. Where are all those lives now? In themselves they had no value, other than in what we became spiritually through those experiences. Each of those lives presented opportunities to seek God and to grow. Obviously we didn't take full advantage of them--that is why we are still here! Why did we miss those opportunities? Because we concentrated so much on the external show and our external role that we pushed God out of our consciousness.

Living in these times, of course we wonder about the future: 'Will there be peace or war, prosperity or lack? What is going to happen?' This is natural. Still, we have to be careful, because if we are dwelling too much on these things, permitting speculation and worries to occupy our mind, God again is pushed out. And then another incarnation--another opportunity to find Him who is the whole goal of life, the solution to all our problems--is wasted."

"'God's dream creation was not meant ot frighten you,' Paramahansaji told us, 'but to prod you to realize finally that it has no reality. So why be afraid of anything? Jesus said: 'Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?''

Many people have asked me: 'Should we move out to the country to be safe if anything should happen?' Well, my dears, we cannot be so naive as to think that the law of karma works only in the cities! Out in the country a person can have a crippling or a deadly accident, or cancer or something else. When people asked the Master about cancer he said, 'Certainly a cure for cancer will be found.' But he went on: 'However, don't think that the law of karma will stop working then. New diseases will come.' So we have to cease thinking in terms of external conditions so much, and realize that there is no security anywhere, in anything, except in righteous living, in prayer and meditation, in attunement with God."

"Don't be attached to the passing dreams of life. Live for God and God alone. This is the only way to have freedom and safety in this world. Outside of God there is no security; no matter where you go, delusion can attack you. Be free right now. Be a son of God now; realize you are His child, so that you may be rid of this dream of delusion forever. Meditate deeply and faithfully, and one day you will wake up in ecstasy with God and see how foolish it is that people think they are suffering. You and I and they are all pure Spirit.

Perfection, ultimate fulfillment, is not meant to be found in this world. I am not giving you a negative picture of life, but pointing out, as Jesus said, our kingdom is not of this world. This is not the kingdom of God. It is not our home; we don't belong here permanently. This is only school. When we forget why we are here, that is when our troubles begin."
