Summarized from my informal personal notes during
public Satsanga service at SRF Lake Shrine, 15 Mar 1979,
presenting minister = Bro. Anandamoy.
(Disclaimer: Anything below that seems unclear is solely
due to my note taking. The minister speaking actually is
extremely clear & powerful.)
Question: How can one best overcome a sense of
inferiority & fear of approaching others?
Answer: To those who have realization, the rest of
humanity has a striking similarity. There really is not so much
difference between people. The person who is really great doesn't
feel superior. All people are just about the same as you. Too
self-centered…be soul-centered.
Q: Is cosmetic surgery O.K.?
A: OK to fix self up externally, but the more we
identify with the unchanging soul the more we possess real inner
attractiveness.
Q: Is it O.K. to pray for making money?
A: Perfectly O.K. to pray for help in anything. But
go to God for God's sake, not just for His gifts.
Q: What's SRF's teaching about giving?
A: It's a spiritual law that we must give &
share.
Q: Is tithing encouraged?
A: Many SRFers tithe. Break through idea that money
or job gives us security. Instead, security comes from our
relationship with God.
Q: How to overcome over-emotionalism?
A: Emotion = feeling turned toward outer machinery
of world. Devotion = turned inward toward presence of God within,
to God, God alone.
Q: What is 'speaking in tongues'?
A: In bible it meant that when several peoples of
different languages were together, they could all understand the
meaning of the man speaking, through upliftment into spiritual
consciousness, by holy vibrations of the person speaking.
Q: Is refusal of needed medical aid same as
suicide, with consequent bad karma?
A: Doctors are O.K. Master said never trust just
one doctor, but to instead get opinions from 3, then choose.
Trust in God & feel He's working through them.
Q: What should we do if our employer is involved
in illegal or immoral business?
A: First, be sure he's really wrong & that it's
not just an ego clash. But if it's genuinely immoral or illegal,
then talk about it with him. If he doesn't change, then look for
another job.
Q: How much of my spiritual experiences can I
share with my Catholic friend?
A: Don't talk about them. Spiritual experiences
through Master's techniques are far beyond what is understood by
those identified with body, mind, emotions, & beyond what is
expressed by human language.
Q: What is initiative"
A: Power to create is derived directly from
Creator. God has unique romance with each individual soul.
Q: May we consciously plan time of our next
incarnation?
A: No, unless highly advanced.
Q: Can karma require us to return to earth to
fulfill another person's desire to have a relationship with me?
A: No. We are here to overcome our own karma.
Q: Is it likely any of us have been through the
higher ages an fallen this low?
A: All us have, many times. This time is transition
period out of darkest Kali yuga ever, lowest of the low times.
But in practice, society is still very much like Kali yuga -
still in dark age. "God is the answer!"- Lahiri
Mahasaya. All our problems, limitations, imperfections lie in the
instruments only (body, mind, emotions), so for any problem,
meditate, go within, & identify self with soul.

P.S. This posting is an experiment, to see if you all like
this sort of thing. I took notes on satsanga sessions only
rarely, in the 1970s & 80s. Since then I've lived too far to
attend the temples. If you like, then I'll post more similar.
Would some of you be willing to take notes at current satsangas
& post them for the interest of us all who can not attend the
temples??
