Instead of a vow of poverty I believe the renunciants vow a lifetime of simplicity, rather than poverty, as one of their monastic vows.

I agree with you that PY didn't advocate anyone living in poverty, (that's kinda weird even to contemplate isn't it?)

I think the monastics get about $20 per month, at least that was so a few years ago, it might have been increased.

I agree with Ketch and others that this issue, when analyzed dispassionately, can be seen as the rightful usuage of property that, as Ketch as pointed out, fufills the dictates of the SRF incorportation documents. In fact the acquiring of real property is listed as number one on the above documents in terms of the purpose for the incorporation.

And Ketch makes a good point in that the property already exists so why not use it. Especially if it helps to make things run smoother for Daya Mata. And for the issue of the purchase of the home nextdoor, that too fulfills the terms of the incorporation document.
