Yes it's alarming. And really, so little of this has come to light. You can learn about some of the more alarming changes SRF has made at:

Click on the link 'Ananda Answers its Critics' for a comparison of what SRF has done vs. what Yogananda taught.

Much more could come to light in the upcoming trial of SRF vs. Ananda. SRF has been suing Ananda for 12 years over copyright issues. Even going so far as to claim that Yogananda was a 'work for hire' employee of their humble organization.

Even though SRF has lost all of their claims in court so far, there are a few minor issues that are finally coming to trial. Apparently, much of the evidence over the years has been put under court protective seal by SRF. But in a trial, everything will be allowed into the light of day. We should learn quite alot about just how they have changed Yogananda's words, ideas, principles, and wishes.
