A shake-up at work can put anyone in panic mode. It's a natural response, but it's not productive. And bosses are sometimes terrible judges of how sudden moves can affect morale--some don't know, some don't care.

Instead of dwelling on the most dire scenario possible, get the facts. Once you know the real situation -- instead of the worst thing your hyper-active imagination can dream up-- you'll be able to make rational decisions about what to do next to safeguard your career.
