We learn about different cultures, because one of our missions in life is to go out, and learn. All future generations will benefit from anything that we see, so when we die, out knowledge is sent to a collective brain pool so to speak. Before you ask, no- we don't get all of that knowledge. It simply serves as a go-to source for us to learn from. In learning to protect the Eyer, we learn never to show ourselves, or to bring foreign creatures home with us. In learning to protect people, we learn to keep ourselves hidden unless we need to be seen.
