I am the mother of a sexually abused child as well as a survivor of childhood abuse, and domestic violence. I am writing a book about all types of abuse.
While I am not a professional person and I do not hold an educational degree, I am committed and devoted to generating awareness towards a life altering crime that affects over half of our population. My goal is to bring awareness about who is offering education, prevention, and assistance for those facing these situations and I will do this by gathering, organizing, and compiling information in my book.
I do not know if you are you a parent or a guardian of a sexually abused child, an adolescent of date rape or other abuse, a survivor of domestic violence, or an organization, or what type of abuse you have survived.
If you are an individual or a part of an organization who deals with others during or after a person comes forward, PLEASE take the time to send me information about the services that you provide. If you have members please direct them my way.
I am looking for people from all walks of life, any race, age, gender, or sexual preference. I would be honored to add your words to my book.
Abuse is Abuse! If you find yourself saying, "Oh, it wasn't that bad or it was no big deal." You're 100% wrong! It all leaves a trial of devastation for a person for their loved ones.
The only requirements that I have are your writing must be in the English language. Writing is to be no more then 1500 words. Everything must be typed in lower case letters. You may use your real name, made up name, or go anonymously. If you use a fictitious name, I assure you confidentiality. Although you may use your name, I cannot print the names of perpetrators. It MUST be your own writing. You may write what ever you feel comfortable with, I only ask you refrain from using foul language.
I would also like to hear from people who have had a loved one commit suicide or died of a drug over doze.
Any person who has experienced any part of abuse, has an important and unique story to tell.
If all goes well, my book will be published in September 2009 or shortly after. I assume it will receive a sufficient amount of exposure due to the contacts I have maintained in different parts of the world.
