He would hold something to his ear back in 1977-78. I always thought it was an ear phone or something connected to the sound system so he could hear the band with one ear, and with the other ear, he could hear his brothers?? He did it in a recording session too (documentary) when his other brothers had full headphones on. Robin didn't wear his headphones normally but held it in his hand to his right ear only. Now they have earpieces they wear them in their ears. New invention, it's been around since about 1990, I think.
