Hi folks,

A few people have told Mark they are ready to have their Phase 2 activities assessed. I'll be in contact with you soon to plan some dates.

I need to let you all know that I will be on leave from 24 September to 26 October (inclusive). So if you don't have an assessment within the next couple of weeks, we'll be looking at November.

Also please remember two things:

(1) Assessment is not a 'pass or fail' process. What we are talking about is having me sit down with you to go over the activities you've been doing in the last few months, to see if there is enough evidence there to assess you as competent at this stage. The best outcome is that we complete the process and you can move on. The worst outcome is that we identify some areas where you maybe need to do a bit more before the next time we meet.

(2) In most cases we planned your activities around the things you were going to be doing anyway as part of your normal jobs. Unless the job you've been doing has dramatically changed in the meantime, most of you should find that you've got the evidence you need for assessment. OK, it might not be in a nice neat collection, but we can cope with that. And if your job HAS dramatically changed, then let's use what you HAVE been doing as evidence.

If you haven't put your hand up for assessment yet, have a think about it - it's probably worth putting aside a couple of hours to get it over with.

Now - Onto Phase 3. Under the circumstances we are thinking about taking up the suggestion made at the last workshop - that is, letting individuals go on to Phase 3 when they are ready. We do want to bring the group back together for another workshop, but at this stage it will be after harvest.

Please respond asap and let Mark and I know what you'd like to do:

(1) Would you like me to have a look at what you've done and see whether you already have enough evidence to complete Phase 2; and

(2) Do you agree with the suggestion that individuals can move on to Phase 3 when they are ready, rather than wait for the whole group?

I'm posting a copy of this message on the bulletin board - why not put your responses there for everyone to share. I will check the board each day to answer any questions you may have.
