When peacock eggs are just laid and left out in the open and not in the nest situation are they alright to pick up and use in cooking. I have been given peaccoks and found an egg in the open today and would like so help in looking after the hens. What else can I give them to eat beside, multigrain bread, wild bird seeds mixed, black sunflower seeds, greens from the garden, nastursiums, fruit and vegies? I am trying to pen them in my orchard soa s they can nest naturally in the trees and forage for themselves for grubs, worms etc?

Where do you live?
Here in the USA the breeding (laying season) is over
except for peahens with confused hormones.
A freshly layed peahen egg is good to eat.
My securely penned peafowls are fed scratch grain and
layer pellets with dry cat food for a treat.
I give them chopped leafy green vegetables whenever I
have these.
