One more thing! :)

My peahens are making strange crouching movements when I approach them. They crouch down and spread their wings a bit. They don't appear to be sitting on eggs anywhere, but is this some kind of mating behaviour? It's kind of cool, as I got to stroke one peahen this morning and yesterday I managed to pick her up for a cuddle! Bliss!

Bit of a worry though, as if she's approached by a fox, she's likely to crouch down and not fly off!

Any thoughts on the crouching behaviour? :) x

Yes, your peahens are doing the "mating crouch" because
they are inprinted on humans. I have known several peahens
with this confused behavior.
It is not very likely that a peahen would be confused enough
to do this for a fox.
Mine are in "secure pens" which keeps them safe.

Well, you'd never know they were imprinted on humans! They're quite shy and I can never normally get near them!

Perhaps they're doing the mating crouch with me because they're frustrated at my peacock ignoring their needs. lol

Thanks for you valued help. xx

I used to have a peahen that would AVOID the peacock and
then insist on getting in my way. To get fertile eggs from
her I had to distract her so that Rainbow/Rambo could catch
her.
I seem to run a home for dysfunctional and/or violent
poultry
