I need help in proving to my County in Maryland that Peafowl and Poultry are not the same. They classify Peafowl and Poultry as the same. Poultry is raied for flesh, meat and or eggs, Peafowl are pets and we dont eat our pets. Therefore they must be kept 200 feet from a occupied dwelling, if this holds up I will have to get rid of my Peafowl ? I will take any helpful info, articles or case law ? Thanks Mike

Long ago there were a couple that lived in Saint Augustine
that went to law over the right to have pet chickens.
They did win the right to keep four (females only- because
males do the crowing)
-------
The definition of a "pet" is any sort of creature that is
kept as a companion. Not only cats and dogs but birds,
lizards, snakes, even spiders.
When I was young I had a pet duck. I have had many pet
chickens. I have had pet peafowls, too.
You should take your question to the United Peafowl
Association forum.
