I haven't got peachicks but just trying to expand my knowledge about peafowl generally. I would also like to know what is the ideal age to separate chicks from their mother. Last year i brought my two males at around (or just less than) four months of age. It is just my completely unknowledgable guess that they could have done with being with mum a bit longer? It seems they had trouble deciding what to eat and when to roost - they didn't seem to even bother looking for a roost until it was almost too dark to see and then became very paniced - they are great at roosting now though :) A friend with peacocks the same age as mine, but still with their mum, said they followed her lead in eating, drinking and roosting, percieving danger etc. I wonder how much peafowl behaviour is instinctive or learnt and what is the optimim learning age range thanks Helen
