In reply to: Yeah, already done! I've spend $2,000 on this car already, 's message, "and I'm not finished yet, ..already done! That's another coparless COWARD MF heard from that never restored a car in his life!" on 07:09:25 06/29/01 Fri

Follow along with me here:

He paid $12,400 for the black Ford that never was anywhere near Connecticut, yet he's attempting to pass it off as a CSP Chaplain's car.

He admits to having spent another $2000 on the neverwasmobile since getting it.

He boasted proudly that the car has been appraised for $15,000.

That shows he has paid $14,400 for fantasy car that is alleged to be worth $15,000.

Wow. Imagine that. He could sell it today and almost break even for what it cost him to buy it plus airfare, hotel, fuel (lots of it), food (even more), licensing, insurance and no doubt at least one speeding ticket on the trek.

Uh oh, I forgot to factor in the depreciation and wear & tear on the car after beating the crap out of it driving cross-country. Especially in those Northern Midwest climates where they use salt on the roads to melt snow. The remnants of the salt stay on the roadways until well into May when there is a late snowfall (like in mid-April this year) and there isn't much rain to wash that salt from the roads (as is also the case this year). That could spell trouble in very short order unless you jet-rinse the undercarriage of the car before the salt dries. Once dry, the salts interfuse with the under structure and the most intricate parts almost instantly begin to oxidate, erode and deteriorate.

We "backbone" hobbyists are aware of that and know how to care for and otherwise maintain our classic iron. Judging by the photos we've all seen of the EPA hazard collapsing in your driveway as well as your Florida driving record, it's quite obvious that you have no idea what it takes to drive, let alone own, repair, restore, maintain a real vintage police car.

Next spring, I'll offer you $1500 for that bondo box of yours and I'll promise to send you photos of it after the demo derby if there's anything left (Bondo doesn't dent. It cracks and falls off).
