The music industry seems to create a sort of prohibition for artists every time anything remotely cool rises to the mainstream and has a decent message. Instead they seem to want to lead people to the hamster wheel of falling love. Or use ignorant, irresponsible hate as a carrot on a stick.

My assessment that Hip-hop is dumbed down rap was wrong. Although, hip-hop seems to capitalize on the falling in love gimmick more so than rap.

Hip-hop and rap, technically, are the equivalent of what rock n' roll is to soft rock.. I believe. I could be wrong.

Anyways, I'd rather listen to N.W.A. and Public Enemy over Fifty Cent and Jay-Z.

To me, Fifty Cent and Jay-Z are like the Blink 182s of rap/hip-hop today. As to where N.W.A. and Public Enemy are the Dead Kennedys of rap.
