Typically countries/nations that have tries to exercise control over the entire world fail. In fact EVER time thus far they have failed. As a nation built on freedom one would think that we would respect the same freedom of other peoples. I at least hope we would. Nation building is a borderline operation at best. On hand we liberated people from a tyrant. But on the other hand, nobody liberated us. We Liberated ourselves (with help from the French before they pussied out on us) so why should we interfere? Yes people are getting pissed at us and we may, as you say. lose more skyscrapers.

America has put itself in a no win situation. If we continue nation building we will piss off a lot of potential terrorists for infringing their particular belief system and denying their freedom to build a nation as they see fit. On the other hand if we pulled out of Iraq and the middle east right now. More terrorists would emerge either saying we fucked them up and left them to rot after promising so much; or extreamists will see how we pulled out, think that terrorism works and do it more until we have retreated to our our borders.

Reguardless if we did one or the other the damnage is done. Either one side or the other will try to hurt us. And people will remember that it is WE who fucked up the middle east and left it to rot.

But if nation building were really our goal. What about Cuba? Haiti? Rwanda? Somolia? Liberia? And a host of other countries that have problems as bad or close to Iraq's? Are we going to invade and liberate all of those countries too? Why not?

So nation building is not our goal. It is a war on terrorism. Who and where are the terrorists? Oh an even better question... Who is next? Who will be the next to fall under the hooves of the American War-horse? And what is the ultimate outcome? I can tell you this much: China is already preparing for a war with us. Not just preparing but worse; they are sharpening their swords. Is it possible that after Iraq is secured, after the summer games are played that China will make a serious military move against Taiwan? And will the U.S. make good on its promise to help Taiwan? Will China put us to the test saying (and I quote) "You will not sacrifice 200 million americans for 20 million taiwanese." Need I even elaborate on what was implied there?

Dude the Chinese are insane... Well the leaders are anyway. If any nation could survive a thermonuclear holocaust it would be them... that could be their line of thinking. "Hell we outnumber them almost 10 to 1 there is no way they could possible kill us all."

Makes me wonder if Starwars, SDI and Missile Defense should be our priority. Get those up and running first. And of course MAKE SURE THEY WORK!!!! Then the war on terror could be persued again.

Oh damn I'm rambling
