Hi Everybody,
Here's chapter 14 of the Imanol and Marina fiction. Enjoy!
Imanol and Marina in Naolinco:
Imanol excitedly responds, "We are here." Marina's head swivels in all directions as she tries to take everything in. She asks "Where is here?" Imanol drives the black rental car into the magnificent old church's parking lot and parks it. Imanol gets out of the car, gentlemanly opens the door for Marina. He then, animatedly, answers, "We're in Naolinco. Come on slowpoke, let's get going." (Imanol softly tugs Marina out of the car.) "Slowpoke, am I?" queries Marina saucily, as she dashes across to the other side of the street. She stops in the middle of the plaza and takes in the grand sight of the majestic church painted all in red. Imanol hurries to catch up with his chiquita. "Huesito, I take it back, you are not a slowpoke. And chiquita, please don't ever run away from me again. Okay?" Imanol then hugs Marina. He also kisses Marina tenderly on the temple.
Marina returns the hug, and still saucy, she responds, "I'll think about it." "Marina," Imanol replies a bit impatiently. Turning serious, Marina tells Imanol, "I love you, yuppie of Stanford, and I wouldn't have run anywhere, but you called me a slowpoke." Understanding colors Imanol's voice and face(and he'still hugging Marina.) as he says "You took it as a challenge, and you had to show me that you could do it, is that right, huesito?" Marina slowly nods her head as she affirms, "Yes. Now tell me about the church across the street. Do you know why its painted all in red?" Imanol replies, "I don't know, but it catches your attention, doesn't it, chiquita?"
Holding hands, Imanol and Marina enter the church. They slowly distangle their laced hands, as a priest comes to greet them. They speak to the priest for a few minutes, then take pictures of the church. When Imanol and Marina leisurely leave the church, their hands are once again linked tightly together.
They go to the picturesque plaza and take a relaxing stroll around its cobblestoned pavement, stopping to admire the statues of the heroes of Mexico's Independence.
Imanol and Marina sprint back to the car as a light rain begins to fall. Marina takes a slight bobble as she skids to a halt by the car door. (but holds herself upright, by catching the door handle.) Once inside the dry car, Imanol's caring eyes survey Marina from head to toe and asks "Are you all right?" "I'm fine, just a bit damp." Marina replies. Imanol responds by (his hazel eyes laughing) quipping humorously, "Do you mind getting completely wet?" Marina's blue eyes blaze devilishly as she replies "Why? Were you planning to leave me in the rain?" Imanol laughs as he starts the car, then says "No but knowing you, you'll slip and fall into the creek by "The Cave."
"Creek? "The Cave"? And I'm not the one that falls into bodies of water, like someone I could name." Marina retorts.
Imanol smiles his egnimatic smile, which annoys Marina a bit, since she knows Imanol won't tell her anymore until they get to the creek and "the cave".
So Marina turns her attention to the windoow and the passing scenery, where she enjoys the green and luscious vegetation around them, the mulberry trees, growing up on the mountainous slopes of the countryside. Her blue eyes rounding in fascination as she stares at the silohoutte of a Mountain coming closer and closer to her view. Then, suddenly Imanol parks and she's startled out of her fascination, as she mumbles, "why did we stop?" Imanol contently and challengingly tells Marina, "Let's go Huesito." We have to take this trail(With one hand, he indicates a steep trail through the side of a mountain on the opposite side of the one that Marina had been looking at.) a little ways to get up to "The Cave." With his free hand, Imanol gently grabs Marina's elbow to get her going on the trail, for the trail is also a bit slippery with the rain that had fallen. Imanol and Marina take it slow and easy up the forest trail, enjoying the scenery through the forest and more importantly, each other's company. With a note of humor in her voice and her azure eyes twinkling, Marina turns her head and asks, "caballero mio, how many times now have you had to push aside these big green elephant ear tree leaves aside, so we won't get hit by them?" At that moment, Imanol's busy holding a giant leaf up above Marina's head, so it won't hit her. His own golden eyes as warm as the sun shining through the trees, Imanol gallantly replies exagerating a bit, "Oh about a thousand, but it's for my Lady, so I don't mind." Marina smiles dazzlingly, then Imanol who can't resist, leans down and gives her a sweet kiss. (Breaking off the kiss, he pushes Marina gently up the slope,) saying, "We're almost at "the cave." "What cave?" Marina(who turns back to look at Imanol)wants to know. As an answer, Imanol covers Marina's blue orbs with his hands and leads her two steps ahead and stops. "Imanol, what are you doing?" scolds Marina. "You can open your eyes, now,"(takes away his hands from over Marina's eyes,) says an excited Imanol. Marina gasps "Oh my,"(her baby blue eyes widen in amazement) as she stares at a large waterfall cascading down the craggy side of the mountain, the waterfall streams into a creek that flows near the grassy bank on which Imanol and Marina are standing. Behind the fast flowing curtain of water lies the entrance of a cave, but the rise of the creek is too high for Imanol and Marina to explore the inside of the cave.) Imanol has whipped out his camara and takes pictures of the fantistic sight. "The Cave?" Marina asks as she points to the waterfall. Imanol busy with the photos, nods his head yes. Marina continues to stare at the waterfall, then turns to survey her surroundings, the grassy bank , the apple trees, spread out to the edge of the bank. The birds serenading them, the sun filtering through the treetops, the rocky stones embedded along the creek on its far side, that allows you to cross over to the other bank, the backdrop of the other mountains in the distance, the mist rising from the seam where the waterfall and creek meet. "Its a beautiful place, Imanol." whispers Marina.(she pivots in a 360 degree circle to take everything in again.) Imanol has finished taking the photos, walks over to Marina with a beautiful deep crimson wildflower he plucked from the clumps of wildflowers by the apple trees. "A beauty for my beauty," Imanol compliments Marina, huskily. Marina blushes, happily accepts the flower and playfully puts the flower behind her ear.
Imanol hugs Marina then tells her softly, "I wanted to share this magical place with you."
Marina strokes her hands over Imanol's shoulders and resting her golden head on his chest, she murmurs a, "It is magical." For long contented moments, Imanol holds Marina in his loving embrace. His amber eyes aglow with love, as are Marina's baby blues. Then Marina raises her head and Imanol bends his down and his lips lock tenderly onto Marina's rosebud lips and kiss her softly and lingeringly. The call of a bluebird to his mate, interrupts the kiss. Imanol tightens his hold on Marina for a minute as he gruffily says, "I love you Marina, my huesito. But its time to go, we have to get to Xalapa."
As she nuzzles her cheek against his cheek, Marina sweetly replies,"I love you too Imanol, my caballero." And she excitedly responds, "Xalapa, I can't wait, I've heard so much about it."
But it's gorgeous, up here. Thank you Imanol for bringing me up here." She then raises her hand and caresses Imanol's free cheek tenderly.
Imanol untangles himself from Marina and tells her commandingly, "Wait, I want to take your photo, with the waterfall and mountains as a backdrop." Marina laughs, then smiles widely for her love as he takes the picture.
Imanol and Marina arrive safely at the car, then drive joyfully through Naolinco and onto the highway heading for Xalapa.
