Thanks Elli - You've been through the mill, both of you. I am appalled at some of the antics of this judge. I have to wonder if she would have been quite so cavalier if the news media (CTV) had been there to keep her honest so to speak. I truly wish we had gotten to see some of this. My personal feeling is that whenever you have judges elected by the populace you are going to have abuses. Judges seem to run on how many convictions of "awful people" they can hang on their belt, true or not.

I believe if there is any justice, Geoff will prevail. Can you imagine having on a jury a man who worked for the newspaper. What's he going to say; "yes I print it but I promise not to read it". The press was biased, clearly and so was the jury.

I saw one woman leave the courthouse after the verdict, who appeared to be very upset. She was very terse and said "no comment", when asked for an interview. I don't believe for a minute that this jury spent all those hours sifting through documents; if they did they were wasting their time. The evidence was clear to me and it was reasonable doubt.

BTW, Chris mentioned this, but would it not be better for the two of you to be able to go back to Germany. What would happen in that case? Answer if you feel like it.

Best, Gina
