Subject: Battle at the Spaceport

ooc- Ok. My first post will appear at the bottom of this explaination. Me and Ferguson worked out some rules to use in our battles. These rules work fairly well and we hope will prevent powerplay. They aren't suitable to all situations unfortunately... perhaps we'll tweak them in the future but, for now we like them. Oh yeah... and I'm not trying to pre-empt Badhbh's authority over these boards with these rules... none of you HAVE to follow them, but it would be appreciated if you did when me and Ferguson go at it and you want to join in on the carnage. That being said... ON WITH THE RULES! I would recomend that people copy and paste this to a text file somewhere.

To start with - posting : every participant is limited to one post per day in the battle... I know this draws it out but it also allows people with odd hours (like myself) to fight. Also, if you have taken action against someone you must wait until their next post to take make another post (ie- you must wait until your last action is resolved before you can post again).

Number of actions: attacking
at the beginning of each fight each character has an "attack pool". Now bear with me. There are three types of attacks a character can perform.
Snap Attack - quick, unaimed attack. Easily dodged or absorbed by armour.
Standard Attack - hard to dodge without a good description in your post or armour/cover that will absorb the shot.
Precise Attack - Cannot be dodged. That doesn't mean it kills you... but you must be affected in some way by the attack.
The attack pool gives you 3 snap attacks, 2 standard attacks and 1 precise attack to use. These may be used for either shooting, throwing or close combat(punching, kicking, etc.). The type of attack is posted in brackets beside the description of the attack. Once you have used all these attacks over the course of your posting the pool "refreshes", giving you back your all your attacks. This may be hard to understand... but I hope my post clears things up. When attacking you may not post the results of the shot... the person you are attacking decides that one. You'll see what I mean below.

Number of actions : Everything else
In a post, you may do one of the following.
1. Shoot 2 times
2. Throw an object
3. Fight in close combat
4. Draw a weapon and fire once
5. Holster a weapon
6. Shoot once - drop the weapon and draw another
7. Load/Reload a weapon
Other than that you may do any number of things within common sense - jump, roll, run, yell, hide, work devices, etc.

Powerplay - There is only one type of powerplay allowed using these rules. You may push an ally out of the way of incoming fire. Snap and Standard shots miss in this case... but a Precise shot must hit the person pushing (heroic sacrifice anyone).

Oh yes... Autofire. Some people (like myself) have weapons capable of spitting out dozens of shots at a time. When firing on autofire you only use up one attack and that attack allows the character to shoot at numerous targets (use common sense please), but autofire is ALL your character can do during that post.

If you have any questions (and I'm SURE you do) e-mail Ferguson at aaronferguson@hotmail.com 'cause he explains these things much better than I do. Or just follow this battle carefully and I'm sure you'll get the jist of it.

Trust me... its alot more dynamic and fun than it looks.

Man that was a long post... and even I'm confused now... oh well... on with the festivities!

Ah hell... I'll post my actions in a post responding to this one to give you a break from reading for a while.
