Subject: Velor, Lord of the Horticulturalists - what next!

The defense of Serpents Hold had crumbled, my nerves were shot, I needed a rest, a drink of hot chocolate, and a nice stroll through the woods and along the beach.

I went home to inform my housemates what had happened. I recalled back to the Villa and dragged my weary bones up the stairs. I had just reached for the doorknob when the door flew open and I was nearly bowled over by Velor and our new roommate Baragon as they came racing outside jumping up and down and shouting like a pair of giggly schoolgirls.

“Mags, Mags” Velor was shouting “Look at the newest Brittanian Training And Further Education book we just found at the provisioners. They’re offering a new course this year – Better Homes and Gardens 101.”

And then Baragon jumps in with…

“Mags, I used to have a business with my friend Maxis. He and I were experimenting in producing new & unusual plants – we called it ‘SIMple LIFE new & usual plants’. It went bust though.”

Before I could get a word out, Vel jumps in again..

“Do you know how much money the Stewards could make from this!!!! With Lady Caewyn’s decorating skills, every house owner in Brittania will want their own arboretum of TDR Plants and Flowers. And not to mention all the beaut stuff we can get from the plants as well and sell, and even our own nursery of unique TDR plants and seeds.”

“This is gonna be GREAT!” they both shouted in unison as they shoved the book into my hands.

They were blocking the way inside and wouldn’t move till I had a look, so I glanced down at the front cover. The fineprint caught my eye, so I looked closer.

“Ah guys,” I said, “Did you read the bit at the bottom. It says ‘Coming soon. Details of the course to be finalise and are subject to change or cancellation without notice’ ”.

The ‘THUNK’ as their jaws dropped and hit the floor finally brought a smile to my face after my trials of the evening. I squeezed between them like two limp rag dolls as I finally got inside and headed for my rest. Kids these days, they always want the latest and greatest fad here and now. Well, Vel was always a great ideas man, but sometimes is too busy chasing rainbows to bother sweeping the golddust off the floor. I just hoped that Baragon had the determination to stick with things. Maybe together they might just make a go of things.
