Subject: Thief of Virtue... Results

Back at home, Pugs sat at his desk, fiddling with a pen. Spirits had been low after the rangers had been forced to retreat from Hythloth, the ankh unfound and probably already
consumed in whatever ritual it was intended for. Some of the rangers looked as though they they expected to turn into hideous monsters at any moment. It was time to put their fears to rest.

I have walked the lands for many years now and one thing I have learned is that there is one thing evil people and creatures lust after more than anything else: power. And it made them blind. In their greed for power over their rivals, they saw it only in things they could possess, and by possessing, gain.

There was another sort of power. The power of self-belief, gained by living a virtuous life and the power in being able to trust others, gained with the knowledge that those who fight by your side also follow the virtues. Today, this power conquered the other, as, eventually, it always will.

Today rangers; Talur, Dace, Dragon Hope, Soressa, Velor, Caleb and Mordrid Blade, Brothers of Night’s Watch, Spad and Silvershade and Ciara, Slayer and Dragon of the Order of the Rising Blade, undertook an extremely dangerous quest of Justice. One they didn’t shy away from because they felt Honor-bound to complete it. Valor was shown in the face of one of the most dangerous locations in in the land and Sacrifice inherent in those who fell as they fought for the people of Britannia as a whole. With such virtues in obvious abundance despite the personal risk involved, none should believe that evil could ever hope to affect the bond that exists between us.

The only power that resides in the Avatar’s ankh, is as a symbol of the virtues to the people of Britannia. No ritual carried out in the hidden depths of a dungeon will destroy or twist that power

With the issue sorted in my own mind, I started to write...

Congratulations to everybody who attended the quest today. Despite what some may have thought at the time, we did not fail in our quest today. The objective was actually in the
attempt, not in completion of today’s quest. In case you think I’m putting a nice spin on our failure, know that there was no non-magic necklace placed down there for us to find. However, we could have done a lot better than we did. This is attributable mainly to problems with communication between leaders and their groups.

Next week, I plan to have a normal, single day hunt, (which will concentrate on group tactics, which is where we were let down today) with a new scenario hopefully starting the
week after... Disclaimer: This timeframe is a very rough estimate. There may be more (possibly many more) weeks between scenarios.

Also, I’ll take this oppurtunity to say that anybody who is interested in playing a part in a scenario, as Morningstar (Talur) and Quinaris (Nick) did in this one. Many thanks to those two players for help in this scenario, not only in playing characters, but also in helping with the planning of them.

have fun,
Pugs
