She had heard something outside. Standing up, she shook herself out. Walking over to the room's entrance, she looked back at the others curled up and sleeping by the smoldering fire. Turning her attention back to the noise, she trotted up the the den's front door. Suddenly an arrow-shaped head with slit-pupiled, yellow eyes lashed out at her. Max began barking furiously at the snake that began making its way into the den.
