What have they done to the 1999 GTO concept? The 2004 version looks like the current Grand Am- and nothing more. The previous concept version looked tough- more like the original. The website states this car goes up against the Corvette? I'd say it's more of a match for the Chevette.

I wholeheartedly agree w/ you. The new GTO looks like any (every) other car on the road! When an original GTO went flyin' past you, at least there was noooo doubt about who's dust you were eating. Perhaps this new version does have the *get up 'n go* but it most definetly doesn't have *the look* of the classic! [And this is just my PVO so if ya don't agree w/ it ~ fine ~ but there's no need to curse anybody out for their opinion!!]

For those who would like to see more aggressive styling, you need to go to Holden Special Vehicles. Play around with the colours, check out the image gallery, and check out the specs for the powerplant - not your average Monaros.

I'm not sure why Detroit has killed off the RWD V8, but they are selling like hot cakes here in Oz. I'd take the new GT Falcon over a Monaro, personally, but its all good :)

To the Austraiin complaining about V8 RWD. The GTO is a V8 with RWD. Second it is based on the Monaro but the exhaust of the Monaro wasn't good enough... You should read this article:

To the guy comlaining about the appearance I agree with you 100% but to compare it to a Chevette? I have never seen a Chevette with 350 HP and a six speed standard.

I am proud to say I own the first GTO in the city of Dallas and I can tell you without a doubt that this car is the most excillerating car I have ever driven. It's so fast its scary. Like being on a roller coaster. I could blow smoke rings for an entire city block if I wanted. The back looks ugly but its speed does all the talkin. I need no words to tell people whats under the hood. Its not hard to hear the low rumbling of the engine. Freekin fast car.
