Subject: '81 4.9 litre performance parts

Does anyone know of any performance parts available for the 4.9 non-turbo version? Any help would be appreciated. Not looking to race the car or anything, just trying to wake it up a little. Kinda embarassing when you can't even coax a decent burnout out of it. Try to power brake it and foggettt about it. Bogs the engine down. Please,I'm desperate. Thanks,Nick

first off i'll say this, you would probably be better off building another engine, but if you don't like that idea, then here are a few things that may help. a set of gears would be a godsend, you probably have 2.73s or maybe even 2.41s, a set of 3.23-3.73s would wake it right up. next up, a converter, something a tad past stock (that matches your gear ratio of course). a cam change would be pretty helpfull as well. other than a cam change, don't dump any money into a 301 than you have too, as many pontiacers will tell you that the 301 was anything but pontiacs best idea, so don't put too much cash into it. if you have a 2 barrell setup, switch to a q-jet. those things should help, if you need any other onfo, feel free to e-mail me.
