Subject: Pontiac Heads

I'm trying to get some power into my 67 firebird. I bought the car with a 73 pontiac 400 engine. I installed a cam and I will be installing a Torker II manifold with a 750 CFM holley carb with electric choke. I'm concerned with the compression ratio of the engine and would like to know if I could do something to the heads to get more compression and power out of this dog of an engine. I have 4X heads and I will be taking them off as I seem to have a blown head gasket. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

6x heads seem to be a cheap head, they flow ok but with some porting they work pretty good.

Hey Steve,I had a set of 670 heads on a 350,that ran real well. The heads where originally on a 67 GTO.
