>Being a true GTO fanatic and having a 1967 GTO (I'm the 2nd owner in it's life),numbers matching 400-4 w/a hurst dual-gate shifter, shouldn't the designers listen to guys like me. Take the Aussie-Monaro, add the traditional split grille and of course insert the famous "GTO" badge w/fog lights, add a "factory ram air" package(not a dealer add on) with the 5.7 V-8, "GTO" litre badges on the side panels in front of the doors and don't forget the quarter panel emblems that beg weaker prey like the Ford Mustang to pick a race w/you, modernize the tail lights and make them 6 small splits (3 on each side) like the 1967 GTO, and finally wrap the beast in Carousel Red, adding Yellow/Black strips proclaiming it "The Judge". If GM dares to follow my outlined design then it will have breathed new life into the honorable and legendary original muscle car simply known as "The GOAT" and every Pontiac lover born since 1950 will gladly stand in long lines and give an arm and leg for the chance at buying a 2004 model. GM is standing on the brink of the biggest thing since De Lorean took the Tempest and beefed up it's suspension, adding a 389 tri-power intake in 1964, if they want to create hysteria then they've stumbled into the right formula by resurrecting the GTO. Do it right guys and the "Driving Excitement" will not only be words in the Pontiac advertisements, it will be the honest TRUTH but be ready to sell cars, possibly 60K+ a year like the 1966 GTO model. Thank You GM from all GTO fans, We Have ALL Waited Too Long for you to bring back the GOAT, get out of the way Ford, Pontiac is back in the saddle and your glory days will end in 2004! Long LIVE the New "GOAT"!!!!!!!!

How hard could this have been to figure out? The only things that concern most car buyers are these:HORSEPOWER!, HORSEPOWER!, and um...HORSEPOWER!!! Other concerns include: 1)"What can I afford that will give me the most bang for my buck? 2)"Will it make other people stop what they'er doing when they see that it is drop-dead gorgeous? And, finally, 3)"Will it make all of my snooty euro-wannabe-drivn' neighbors re-think their last auto purchase? See, it is within ALL american auto makers to build cars like these- across the entire automotive spectrum, especially Pontiac. Sometimes they over-design, but when they get it right(and they do almost always), NOTHING else creates that kind of immediate, animalistic, drooling desire. And what a wonderful lineage of powerplants - to choose from, tweak, tune, and improve upon! What are we waiting on?!!? Let's start blowing the paint off the rest of the automotive world! We seem to have pricing thing under control, so the only thing left is performance and design. If american auto manufacturers stop holding back on those two things, they'll immediately have to start building new plants, because the world will start buying these cars like they buy art, or anything else. "Sure, I have three, but honestly, check out this beautiful monster, and it was only $30,000!!! It was a steal!!! Probably won't get around to driving it much though....." That silver, low-slung, fat-wheeled, high-powered, 2-door iteration is exactly all of the things that I mentioned. I'm sure the quick Aussie, Monaro, is a great car, but the only people really buying it are performance enthusiasts, because that's what they're looking for, and that's what it has plenty of. It's ho-hum looks, and tiny wheels, however, are not really worthy of ANY Pontiac, ESPECIALLY the car that will start the new affordable muscle-car revolution, *the 2004 Pontiac GTO!!!!! *(Yes, that big, fat, silver 2-door in all the pictorials.) Thank you for reading! _kpjr25

HSV, a division of holden have just stuffed a 427 in the monaro. Ran it at Bathurst 24 hour race and it won by 23 laps

Seems like an impressive car, but for taking a stab at Ford's glory day's, not going to happen with the new Mustang 2+2. The stock V8 engine will make 345hp and the Cobra version will make 427hp. So I doubt the GTO will make that big of an impression.

The new Mustang will be nice, but it won't have 345hp standard. The new Cobra also will not have 427hp standard. Yeish, where do people come up with this stuff?

GM is headed for the crapper in my opinion. Why you ask? Lets see how bout dropping an overpriced f-body for a peice of *S* GTO , a poor australian copy , which is even MORE over priced
(try 35k!).Now don't get me wrong I think the LS1 is a great engine and unfortunatly I can't afford a new car right now but if I were in the market I would head on over to the Ford
dealership an purchase a 2003 svt cobra for 30k.Best performance for the dollar IMO..supercharged DOHC 4.6 with 360ish hp and 4 wheel wishbone suspension.Pick up the january issue of car craft if you like or own one ;)
