A little tip I got - don't try this immediately on your racing car try it on an old car first, is to take the cams out that open an shut the fuel intake into the pistons and file the tops off so they are flatter to keep the valves open for longer. Depending on how much you file them down is how long they will stay open for. This is what they do to f1 cars. don't file them down to a ball though because then they won't open much which defeats the object.
