John, "Five O'clock Charlie" was a character on "M*A*S*H." He was a Korean, who, every day at 5 pm, would fly over the Mobile Army Service Hospital and drop a bomb. His engine would sputter as he dropped the bomb. He was so feckless that after a while the staff quit betting on whether he would hit anything or not, and started betting on how far from the target the bomb would drop.

Of course if Charlie had been able to hit anything, he could have done the good deed of preventing the wounded from being treated and possibly healed. Surgeons have ugly things like scalpels, and that sort of thing cannot be abided.

BTW, Andrew Lloyd Webber (who came up with the song you are touting) is the composer who cooperated with Tim Rice to write "Jesus Christ Superstar." You may recall it. It was a trashy rock opera that mocked Christ, represented him as traveling around with his disciples and their paramours, and eventually dying and being buried -- period. However, Judas was resurrected so that there would be a demon spokesman to make the lyricist's point -- that Jesus was incompetent, misguided, foolish, and ineffective. However, Judas did make the politically correct point that Judas had been murdered by God. I guess, as in the case of homosexuality, Christian theology just has "evolved" fast enough to keep up with political correctness. Perhaps someday, known, unrepentant traitors willing to exhibit the "sorrow of the damned" at the fact that society does not accept them will be permitted to serve in the priesthood.

A message on "love" from Webber is like a sermon from "Judas Christ."

BTW, the entire culture and hierarchy of the CofC is based upon pervasive institutionalized lying. Is your disapproval of Lois' alleged lies due to the fact that she is not licensed by the CofC to lie? It certainly cannot be due to any distaste for lying. I know that the residual "one true church" mind set that infects even the hierarchy might make the CofC think that it has cornered the market on lies.

George
