This is funny, Lois. Throughout the church's entire history, every time the church got to a serious juncture, it had to cut out the dead wood.

In 1844, the dead wood were gentlemen who refused to allow members of the First Presidency and the Council of Twelve to marry their wives. In 2011, apparently the dead wood are people who agree with St. Paul, St. Jude, and St. John that the practice of homosexuality is a serious sin that will so warp the spirit as to make the sinner unable to enter heaven.

Steve Veazey is starting to sound a lot like Brigham Young. You know, Richard Price warned us about the liberalists' fond desire to wrest the church into a doctrinal system based upon the utterances of the "Living Oracles" such as Young, Veazey, and others, rather than upon the scriptures.

What Veazey means is that if you cannot bring yourself to accept homosexuals being ordained to the priesthood, and you can't accept same-sex marriage as divine, then you can "get the &#@(* out." My advice to anyone who cannot tolerate these things is to leave now. It will take time to find a new church home, and the sooner you start, the sooner you will find it.

Or, you can wait until Mr. Veazey, in his "uncompromising" and "nonnegotiable" mode, throws you out two years from now. Then you can start looking.

John's wonderful, pious "lenten scriptures" are going to play absolutely no part in the First Presidency's decision to excommunicate or otherwise disfellowship you for disobeying their divine commands.

Awfully funny that the liberals mock and deride fundamentalists in the church for refusing to compromise. But now we see that the attitude is the exactly the same on both the liberal and the fundamentalist side. The only difference is where the loyalties lie.

George
