Mamusz, it has come to the point where it doesn't matter if anyone can connect the dots or not. The politician's ultimate goal is to acquire enough power that no one can oppose him, whether they want to or not. The lie is necessary in the beginning to pull the wool over everyone's eyes long enough to pull it off.

The CofC is sort of a micro example of what is happening with the entire country. A lawsuit challenging the president's eligibility to have even been on the ballot in the 2008 election finally got to a higher court, and the judge ruled that, since Obama had already been inaugurated, that the suit was void. You don't have to fool everybody all the time. You just have to fool them long enough. After all, Eve thought the snake was just another creature in Eden, who could be dealt with as a peer. If the snake had said, "Hi. I'm Satan. I'm an evil angel who fought against God and was thrown out of heaven. I can tell you anything that you want to know," I doubt that Eve would have been as inclined to listen. And after she found out what was really going on, it was too late.
