I find it amazing that intellectuals in the CofC hate being associated with Joseph Smith, Jr., on account of the fact that he supposedly started a cult that teaches extrabiblical doctrines contrary to the Bible. That is why it is funny when these same liberals adopt a heretic form of Christianity that teaches unbiblical doctrines about homosexuality. +"Gay Christianity is such a heresy that it ranks right up there with Joseph Smith's alleged teachings about "exaltation," and about "plural marriage." IN fairness to Joseph, though, we must admit that there is little or no controversy about what the CofC teachings are. We know that W. Grant McMurray was the spokesperson for the First Presidency in 1992 when he told elders about the newly decreed ritual of "covenant ceremonies" to celebrate the sexual cohabitation arrangements of same-sex couples. There is no dispute about that like there is about whether or not Joseph Smith, Jr. taught and practiced polygamy.

The LDS once disputed the RLDS/CofC claim that Joseph Smith, Jr. did not practiced polygamy at Nauvoo. However, the LDS do not dispute the CofC claim that W. Grant McMurray initiated same-sex shacking up ceremonies, and initiated the practice of ordaining avowed homosexuals. The LDS also do not dispute that the current administration has no problem with the McMurray administration's teachings, other than the PR problems associated with them.

The CofC leadership teaches sacramental sodomy, and the LDS fully agree that the CofC teaches sacramental sodomy.

Apparently intellectuals are more cool with homosexuality than they are with polygamy. For them, it has nothing to do with the Bible or what Jesus taught.

Remember, Jesus said nothing about homosexuality.
He said nothing about rape.
He said nothing about pedophilia.
He said nothing about incest.
He said nothing about female genital mutilation (a muslim practice.)

According to the arguments of the homophiliacs at the helm of the CofC, anything Jesus didn't think was important enough to comment on must be completely o.k. In fairness to the CofC leaders, I'll have to admit here that they borrowed the argument from someone else. They can't come up with anything original of their own. That's why they had to join the NCC, hoping to get some good leftovers.
