Lois, everyone is preoccupied with money these days, since the concept of money itself may very well disappear. So don't fault the Community of Christ on this one. The old adage that if the gospel is preached, the money will pour in just doesn't seem to work for anything other than born-again denominations. The denominations that require payments of money to absolve sins don't seem to have too much of a pinch, either. It's the denominations in between that are squeezed.

Money has always been a big deal in the Restoration, so simply noticing a shift in the way it is talked about doesn't seem to me as much of a change. Remember, after the semi-debacle of beginning the Auditorium just before World Depression One, the church built the Temple by subscription. God doesn't expect anyone to throw money away, nor to simply hope that it will walk in the door. God has always talked about industriousness.
