John, I'd say that O.C. was a little too confident. At that time, people were not technology aware. He had no idea that the tape would be replicated and sold in mass quantities. He thought that at worst, Price would play it for a few of his personal friends before he misplaced it. Now video and audio can be disseminated over the internet. The arrogance of power often causes a great deal of inconvenience for the powerful. I don't think that O.C. had the slightest idea that the tape would still be around when the church finally joined the very organization that he was sitting there lying about. "Lie" is a strong word, but that's exactly what he was doing. There is no subjectivity whatsoever involved in this conclusion.
