Believe me, I know. I was still defending W. Grant McMurray's liberal apostasy up until the Great Gay Conference of 2001. It would be instructive to find out if this poster still denies the same-sex shacking up ceremony was held at the CofC branch in Eugene, Oregon in May 2003, with paid CofC leadership members in attendance.
I do think that it is tragically hilarious that the leaders who have brought reproach on the church are defended to the death by the peons, (and some not so peon,) who blame those who point it out. After all, I readily admit that I was still defending W. Grant McMurray's liberalism up until the Great Gay Conference of 2001, so I know this type of stupidity firsthand. It's called "kill the messenger."
I know that the leadership knowingly runs over the membership with tyrannical behavior, and willfully violates the rules of the church any time it pleases. For a man to remain silent about it is to tell a lie. That's the lie of silence that these folks demand that I tell. The very fact that there are dissenters from the church is a threat to its existence, and this fact has to be suppressed. After all, the homosexual activists claim that for them to be quiet and "fit in," and not make a scandal about their homosexuality is the "lie of silence." So why should the leadership want to maintain a "lie of silence" by pretending that it does not support these activists 100%?
The art of the lie is the reason that the church doesn't publish its real membership figures. Just as the federal government chooses to grossly underestimate the jobless rate, the CofC leaders choose to grossly overestimate the numbers enrolled in the church. A church with only 114,000 or fewer members that officially claims to have 250,000 members is patently untruthful. A difference of more than 50% isn't a "mistake." Frederick Smith drove at least 5,000 members out of the church during his authoritarian administration. The trio of Wallace B. Smith, W. Grant McMurray, and Steve Veazey (may they be blessed) has collectively driven over 135,000 members out of the church, either by simply alienating them, or aggressively throwing them out via excommunication. That averages out to about 45,000 members each. Each of the liberal prophets have driven out, on the average, about 9 times as many members as the heavy-handed F.M. Smith.
But leaders of abusive authoritarian sects have always decreed that it is not "faith building" to tell the truth -- not about the Ptolemaic System, nor about the Pope's "nephews," etc. So we are branded as evil marauders, or something like that for telling the truth. Next thing you know, they'll be telling us that we "are not children of God." Price was called a "Judas," by these leaders spreading "Christian love." If our mysterious poster doesn't think that is a "hateful argument" then I doubt that he/she knows what one is.
