John, the issue of the Community of Christ designating the Apostle Paul as a homophobic bigot, and then trying piously to quote him to get folks to "list" to hearkent to them is a conundrum that bears contemplation.

I've heard it said that "A patriot is someone who loves his country, while hating 97% of the people in it." That's the kind of person I wouldn't want to join up with.

Something similar holds true for the CofC. It "believes" the Bible while hating 97% of what's written in it. It "believes" the Book of Mormon while hating most of what's in it, too. Even the D&C gets the same sort of treatment. The church "believes" D&C too, but is always trying to remove sections that are inconvenient.That's the kind of church I wouldn't want to join, provided that I had adequate notice in advance of what it was really all about.

I'm doing the CofC an immense favor, John. anyone who would be uncomfortable belonging to a prohomosexual political action church, a church that objects to much of what is in the Bible, would only cause trouble in the CofC. If such a person were to read the posts here and not go to the CofC, think how much trouble that saves you and other priesthood members in sizing up the pigeons.

That's why the LDS Church doesn't bother with antiMormons. The prospective converts who read antiMormon material, and still get suckered into joining the LDS Church without ever realizing what is going on behind the curtain are just the kind of people LDS missionaries are looking for. The rest they'd just as soon do without.

One might think you could show some appreciation for this.

Everybody needs to know about Andrew Shields playing fast and loose with the Bible, just as everybody needs to know that Joseph Smith, Jr. was doing the horizontal mambo with Fannie Alger out in the barn (something you like to talk about, John.) These are the sorts of things that can never be forgotten by anyone determined to keep a close eye on spiritual matters regarding Mormonism.

The average paid employee of the CofC hierarchy has about as much credibility as a TV evangelist.

But you prefer not to see that nor lift a finger to do anything about it. One might think you find it more purifying and restorative to the church's future to just rag on Lois.
